Wellington Travel Information

Wellington is New Zealand's 2nd largest city. Located near the southernmost point of the North Island with an international airport and interisland ferry terminal, Wellington is the main crossover point for travel between the North and South Islands.

Wellington is the capital city and political centre of New Zeland. Home to Te Papa, the ground-breaking interactive Museum of New Zealand, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and national treasures such as the original Treaty of Waitangi.

Wellington boasts some fantastic scenery and will reveal to the traveller the creative, political and cultural nature of New Zealand.

A compact and interesting city, Wellington is nestled between a dramatic harbour and bush clad hills. Great views can be found at the top of Mount Victoria, or by catching the cable car up to the Botanic Gardens.

Amongst other things, Wellington is famous for its restaurants, wine and coffee. With more than 300 cafes and restaurants are located throughout the city, Wellington has more places to eat and drink per head than New York!
