Hamilton New Zealand, Waitomo Caves


Hamilton is New Zealand's 4th largest city, located in a region south of the greater Auckland area called the Waikato. This region is dominated by the serenity of the Waikato River and rich rolling green farmland.

Hamilton, is famous for its themed gardens, and the local zoo which has the largest free flight aviary in the Southern Hemisphere.

There are a wealth of things to do and see including the Waikato Museum of Art & History on the banks of the Waikato River which flows right through the centre of Hamilton. The south end of Hamilton's main street is buzzing with restaurants, cafes and bars.

Travelling south to the Waitomo area, there is a natural labyrinth to discover. Massive subterranean caverns are adorned with stalactites and stalagmites - formations that have been millions of years in the making.

Travelling to the west is the beach town of Raglan, which is known throughout the international surfing community for its rare left-hand break.

Hamilton Zoo Hamilton Zoo is situated on 25ha of beautifully landscaped grounds and is home to over 400 exotic and native birds, mammals and reptiles displayed in natural surroundings. Lots of interesting animals to look at, including giraffes, zebras, camels, monkeys and lions.
Waikato Museum of Art and and History is at the centre of Hamilton's art and culture. The Museum presents an ever-changing programme of exhibitions, utilising its own large collection of New Zealand art, Tainui Maori cultural history, and Waikato history. There is lots to see and learn in the areas of Science, Art, Culture and History.
ArtsPost used to be the old Post & Telegraph Office. It has been extensively renovated and restored to its former glory to house the Hamilton Community Arts Council, Waikato Society of Arts (WSA) and a wealth of local artistic talent.
Hamilton Gardens covers an area of 58 hectares at the southern end of Hamilton City, New Zealand. It is a public park owned and managed by the Hamilton City Council.
